Week 3: Liquids in Action

It was a close contest last week! 19 votes for the Couple and 15 votes for Chester--making 34 total votes. I barely squeeked by, winning at 55%. Personally, I loved the graffiti wall and the lighting Conor had. It was a fun night! We had hoped for a lot more votes last week, but are thrilled with all the comments from everyone! Thank you!!! Interesting to see why you selected each photograph.

Choose your favorite of the week: Cherry vs. Foam. Loved the comments last week. Again, feedback is crucial to our growth and we love to hear what you have to say! VOTE NOW!!! And send it to your friends. . . : )

Week 2: Night Portraits

One week down, 51 more to go! Get excited, people!!! Project 52 has proved a fun adventure for us thus far, and challenges us as photographers. I love tapping into my creative side and throwing a camera into the mix. The polls have closed for Week 1 and the votes are in! Results were 47 total votes: 43 for the Houston Skyline and 4 for 3 Wise Monkeys. It was a bit of a landslide, but we like seeing the results of what people like. I know most of you assumed I took the monkey shot--being the monkey lover I am, but Conor took that one. Surprise!!! If you're inclined to tell us why, or what you like/disklike about our photos, please add a comment at the bottom of the blog entry for the corresponding photos. Feedback and constructive criticism is another way we grow.

With all that said, I am pleased to announce Week 2: Night Portraits. This past week we decided to play with off-camera flash and see what kind of dramatic lighting we could get in the downtown Houston areas. We are just beginning and learning this lighting and having a blast with it! (Again, any comments or feedback on this style would be much appreciated--just add your comments at the end of this entry.) Vote now for the Couple or Chester! You have until Friday at midnight--pass along to anyone you know! Lets try to break 100 votes this week! : )

Brenna & Otto's Wedding

Brenna and Otto were married in the Draper LDS Temple on June 24, 2009. Conor and I flew to UT for the wedding and lucked out with absolutely gorgeous weather on the wedding day. Maybe even a little hot, as we both came away with interesting tan lines! The reception was held outdoors at the Johnson Mill in Midway. What a beautiful backdrop and lovely surroundings. They had unique flowers with peacock feathers and fabulous table decorations. Jones Soda bottles, in their wedding colors, sported 3 different engagement photos and were a hit with the guests. Good luck Brenna and Otto--we had a fun time working with you!

Week 1: Houston Skyline vs. 3 Wise Monkeys

Dayna and I have undertaken a 52 week project. Each Saturday we will post 2 photos that we have taken during the week. The Dayna Carroll Photography fanbase can then vote on which photo they like best. We will leave the poll open until Friday night and post the results with the next week's photos. Confusing? Maybe. But...just stick with it. All you need to do is come back each week to check out our new work. Besides, those of you who thrive for new posts, you are guaranteed at least one new post each week!

This week's card features the Houston Skyline and 3 wise monkeys. Let us know which picture you like best...PS, voting is to your left in our gadget bar.

Sweet Pepper

We had the great opportunity to photograph Pepper Alice Russell while we were in Utah. The newborn didn't even have to travel far as we were able to shoot all the pictures in her new home. Mom and baby did great, especially considering little Pepper was only 2 days old. Enjoy the pictures!!

When It Rains, It Pours!!!

I flew to Utah for Brenna & Otto's wedding in June, excited to escape the heat and humidity of Houston. Friday evening was perfect! But, I was informed the 1st time in 3 solid weeks it had not rained. Perfect timing! Saturday had forecasted rain showers, but held off all day--up until 30 minutes before the shoot. Lovely. . . perfect timing! Luckily I had come prepared, borrowing a hat, sweater, coat, and 72" umbrella. I neglected to factor in the extreme wind and drastic drop in temperature. I wound up soaked to the bone and freezing cold for hours. My flip flops braved the weather, with rivers rushing down the street and sidewalks. Brenna and Otto were troopers! We managed to get some great shots. Here are some of their images I liked best from the bridal and pre-wedding photos at the Draper LDS Temple.
